Ana Maria Lopez, MD, MPH
Ana Maria López, MD, MPH, MACP, FRCP is Professor and Vice Chair of Medical Oncology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College and Chief of Cancer Services at Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center – Jefferson Health – New Jersey, Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. López joined Jefferson in 2018 from the Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she was Professor and Director of Cancer Health Equality and Inclusion and served as Associate Vice President of Health Equality and Inclusion at the University of Utah Health.
Dr. López graduated from Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University and completed her internal medicine residency and Chief Residency, General Medicine Fellowship, Hematology and Oncology Fellowship, Cancer Prevention and Etiology Fellowship (T32, NCI), and MPH at the University of Arizona. She subsequently joined the faculty at the Arizona Cancer Center, University of Arizona where she served as founding Medical Director of the Arizona Telemedicine Program, Professor of Medicine (tenured) and Pathology, and Associate Dean for Outreach and Multicultural Affairs. She was the site Medical Director of the Women’s Health Initiative, the largest NIH funded clinical trial focused on women’s health outcomes. Dr. López has served as PI and co-I for multiple cancer prevention and therapeutic trials.
Dr. López is board-certified in medical oncology and integrative medicine. Her clinical expertise is in women’s malignancies, integrative oncology, and telehealth.
Dr. López is President-Emeritus of the American College of Physicians, the largest medical specialty organization in the United States. She is former Chair of the Health Equity Committee, American Society of Clinical Oncology where she is currently a member, Education Council. Dr. López and serves as a Member of the Steering Committee of the Group of Women in Medicine and Science, Association of American Medical Colleges. Her areas of expertise and research focus include cancer prevention, integrative oncology, and innovations in healthcare.
