Dr. Weinberg is currently an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at UIC running the lung cancer program. He is a physician scientist dedicated to clinical care of patients and translation research. He received his PhD at Northwestern University in the field of cancer biology and performed seminal work elucidating the importance of mitochondrial metabolism in lung cancer tumorigenesis. He then completed his MD at University of Illinois College of Medicine followed by residency and fellowship at University of Michigan. He is dedicated to the discovery of biomarkers in the underrepresented, high risk lung cancer screening population as well as in patients with lung cancer at UI Health.
