Kimberly Ku, MD
Dr. Kimberly Ku, MD, is board-certified in Medical Oncology and Hematology, with board certification in Internal Medicine and an additional Cancer Genomics risk assessment certificate. She grew up in the Midwest, having completed her undergraduate schooling at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, followed by medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI, where her father had been a mechanical engineering professor at the time and her older brother a pediatric resident. She then did her residency training at Indiana University in Indianapolis, followed by a Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
She is a community physician at Illinois CancerCare with a busy full-time practice ever since 2019, seeing patients in Bloomington, IL, as well as Pekin, IL, alongside hospital privileges in Peoria, IL. She has additional interests in clinical trials and has been recently registered as site-PI for the international Pancreatic Cancer Early Detection (PRECEDE) consortium, in addition to helping enroll patients in many NCI studies as well as industry-sponsored studies, being awarded the Heartland NCI NCORP Silver Award for clinical trial annual accrual of 2023. She has been recently recognized by the American Cancer Society's (ACS) ResearcHERs program. She has been actively working with the ACS as a Commission on Cancer (COC) Cancer Liaison Physician (CLP) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center ever since 2023. She sees a wide variety of patients and enjoys the constant learning process, including recently, in 2023, being added as a Hereditary Transthyretin Amyloidosis (ATTR) Registered Provider and completing Optune Provider training for therapy in glioblastoma multiforme and malignant pleural mesothelioma, in addition to completing Teclistimab Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) for bispecific management in multiple myeloma and recently in 2024 having begun providing bispecific therapies in the form of giving tebentafusp-tebn in treatment of uveal malignant melanoma.
In addition to excelling at her clinical duties, Dr. Ku is also considered a leader among her peers in her community, being awarded the 20 under 40 Award through the Pantagraph local newspaper in Bloomington, IL, as published in their October Limited magazine in 2023. She has also previously won a Leadership U for Humanity scholarship - a development program sponsored by the Korn Ferry Charitable Foundation & American Medical Women's Association (AMWA). In 2022, she sought independent leadership training through the Yale School of Management Executive Education Women’s Leadership Program.
Dr. Ku generally believes in having curiosity and a positive growth mindset. She is honored and excited to be welcomed to the Central Illinois Hematology Oncology Conference.
