Dr. Matthew Fero is the director of the UNM Bone Marrow Transplant and Cell Therapy Program, which has brought hematopoietic cell transplant technology to New Mexico. Starting with autologous stem cell transplantation in 2016, UNM has now introduced both allogeneic stem cell transplant and CAR-T therapy. Dr. Fero is the co-leader of the Hematology Clinical Working Group, which reviews and prioritizes all clinical trials for hematological malignancies at UNM and affiliate NCORP community sites. Additionally, he is the director of a new Cell Therapy Laboratory that enables the use of hematopoietic cell transplant for routine use and clinical trials.
