Kara Schenk, MD
Kara M. Schenk is a board-certified oncologist at Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital Cancer Center and adjunct instructor at the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health at Johns Hopkins University and her medical degree at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She subsequently completed the Osler Internal Medical Residency at Johns Hopkins. After a brief period living in Romania with her husband and working for a non-profit as a health educator and medical consultant, she returned to the U.S. to complete her oncology fellowship training at the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her research interest is in developing combinatorial immunotherapy regimens for patients with advanced cutaneous malignancies, with a focus on patient populations who might otherwise not be eligible for clinical trials (e.g., solid organ transplant recipients) and patients with rare presentations (e.g., metastatic basal cell carcinoma). She is currently a co-PI for two clinical trials, one of which is conducted through the National Cancer Institute Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network.
