My name is Ines Joan Sanchez Rivera, MD FACP and I was born in Puerto Rico and went to College at University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez campus where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Premedical Education.  Then I attended University of Puerto Rico medical school.  After obtaining my medical degree, I completed my residency in Internal Medicine at William Beaumont army medical center in El Paso, Texas.  Subsequently, I completed a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology from the San Antonio military medical center. After graduation, I became assistant chief at Madigan Army medical center for two years and then was transferred to William Beaumont Army medical center where I again was assistant chief and subsequently chief of the Hematology/Oncology division.  In 2004, I left military service after 14 years and entered private practice as part of the Center for Integrative Cancer Medicine in El Paso, Texas.  There, I functioned as staff Hematologist/Oncologist and Director of Clinical Research.  In 2010, I joined Texas Oncology again as a staff Hematologist Oncologist and subsequently became Director of clinical research overseeing multiple clinical trials until today.  In 2019, I became area Medical Director of Texas Oncology and Principal Investigator for Breast Cancer trials for the unified West Region for Research.  Earlier in 2023, I was named co-Regional Medical Director of the West Region of Texas Oncology.  I was nominated and attended Leadership development course for Mckesson.  Also received an award for Outstanding research from the US oncology Research network.  I have been married to My husband Dr. Jimmy Vigo for 30 years and we share two wonderful daughters Pamela (29) and Heather (25).  We enjoy traveling especially in our motorhome with our four rescued dogs.  Love spending time with our family and I love cooking and reading.
