He has made novel contributions to the field of cancer health disparities by establishing that 1) the quality of cancer treatment contributes to disparities in cancer outcomes, 2) that there are multilevel drivers of cancer care disparities, and 3) that patient experiences with how cancer care is delivered impacts the type of care that is given. He has dedicated his career to unraveling the greatest barriers that prevent all patients, especially those most underserved, from receiving the best possible cancer care. He received his PhD in Health Services Research from the University of Washington and an MPH from Columbia University.
