Arshin Sheybani, MD
I am a community radiation oncologist that has been in practice for over 10 years and have served as co-principal investigator overseeing our community NCORP research grant for the past year. My research interest are in clinical oncology. I have received funding via the Alliance Scholar Award to pursue an investigator initiated pilot trial evaluating the benefit of vitamin E and trental in mitigating radiation fibrosis in breast cancer patients. I have served as a member of our Breast Programming Leadership Committee where we ensure compliance with the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. During this time, we have increased breast cancer trial accrual several fold above the recommended standard. Through my involvement with the Alliance Symptom Intervention Committee, we were selected as a community site to participate in A221803 which evaluated the benefit of mepitel film use to reduce radiation related toxicity and co-authored the abstract that presented the results at San Antonia Breast Cancer Symposium this past winter. I have served as the local principal investigator for multiple industry trials, including a Soligenix mucositis trial for head and neck cancer patients where we were one of 3 top accrual sites in the nation. I am currently serving as a member of the Anal Rectal Task force for the NCI GI steering committee and recently participated in updating ASTRO guidelines on rectal cancer.
