Bradley Carthon, MD, PhD

Dr. Carthon received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard Medical School and Harvard University in 2005, where he studied the roles of cell cycle proteins in mammary gland and breast cancer development. He remained in Boston for his residency in Internal Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Carthon then did his Medical Oncology Fellowship training at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital. While at M.D. Anderson, he chose to focus on Genitourinary Medical Oncology and worked on Caveolin-1 as a biomarker of prostate cancer bone metastases.
Dr. Carthon joined Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Atlanta in 2011. He serves as a member of the Genitourinary Oncology Group and has served as a member of the Phase I Early Discovery Unit. His interest is in novel therapeutic targets and clinical trials for genitourinary and other solid tumors. He is currently Professor of GU Medical Oncology and serves as Chief of Hematology Oncology at Emory Winship Midtown. He also recently served as Interim Director, Division of Medical Oncology for Winship Cancer Institute. He regularly gives lectures on prostate cancer in the community, for CME programs, and for various national academic reviews. He has served as part of the ASCO Genitourinary National Meeting Planning Committee, as well as the ASCO National Meeting Scientific Committee.
