Manali Patel, MD, MPH, MS, FASCO
Dr. Manali Patel is an Associate Professor at Stanford in the Division of Oncology and a Staff Oncologist at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. She is a health services researcher and directs a research program, Partnerships to Advance Cancer Care, that focuses on improving equitable delivery of value-based cancer care. She uses principles of community-based participatory research and healthcare redesign in her work and is the principal investigator of multiple externally funded awards such as the California Initiative to Advance Precision Medicine, the Patient Centered outcomes Research Institute, and the National Institutes of Health. She is directing a Veteran Patient-Centered Care Program for the Veterans Affairs National Oncology Program focused on improving supportive cancer care, specifically proactive symptom identification and management for Veterans. Dr. Patel serves on several national committees. She was the past chair of the American Society of Clinical Oncology Health Equity Committee, serves on the American Society of Clinical Oncology Government Relations Committee, is a Cancer.Net Associate Editor for Health Equity, the Editor-Elect for the State of Cancer Care in America, and is a member of the Palliative and Survivorship Committee of the National Lung Cancer Roundtable. She earned her MD and Masters in Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by Internal Medicine Residency, Hematology and Oncology Fellowship and several research fellowships in addition to obtaining a Masters in Health Services Research at Stanford University School of Medicine.
