Shiruyeh Schokrpur, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Schokrpur attended the University of California at Berkeley where he graduated with Honors and Highest Distinction in General Scholarship. He then spent two years in Dr. Judith Campisi's lab at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging where he investigated the role of microRNAs in the dampening of the inflammatory response caused by cellular senescence. He then joined the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of California at Los Angeles. Here, he received his MD and PhD degrees. His doctoral research in the lab of Dr. Lily Wu focused on developing an improved syngeneic model of renal cell carcinoma using Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeat (CRSIPR)-based techniques. He then joined the University of California at San Diego Physician Scientist Training Program, where he performed research with Dr. J. Silvio Gutkind and Dr. Sandip Patel to enhance the efficacy of immunotherapy treatments. His clinical interest is in solid tumor oncology, specifically focusing on tumors of the thorax, head, and neck. He is currently an Assistant Professor at UC Davis in the division of Hematology/Oncology with a focus on these cancers.
