Claudia Finkelstein, MDCM
Claudia is a general internist who earned her medical degree at McGill University in Montreal. Until semi-retirement in 2022 she practiced internal medicine for over 30 years mostly in academic medical centers. Her interest in physician wellness and burnout began over 20 years ago while listening to the suffering of trainees and colleagues. As founding co-chair of the University of Washington School of Medicine's faculty wellness program she created a peer support program, a subsidized mindfulness training program, and numerous faculty development programs focused on wellness. In 2018 she was recruited to Michigan State College of Human Medicine where she served as the Director of Wellness until her retirement.
She now provides coaching and support to faculty and staff at Michigan State.
As a physician, her primary goal is to diminish suffering. Her wish is to help to heal the healers as one of the first steps to creating a better health care system.
