Shailesh Shrikhande
Professor Shailesh V. Shrikhande is Deputy Director of Tata Memorial Hospital and
Head of GI and HPB Cancer Surgery. He is a visiting Professor to eight major
institutions in Europe, Japan and USA. He has delivered 30 keynote lectures and
orations. He is the Chief Editor of nine books in GI Oncology, contributed 77 book
chapters, and published 313 papers in leading international journals. His h index is 42.
He has conducted over 60 live Operative teaching demonstrations of pancreatic
surgeries across India in an effort to make these surgeries cheaper and more
accessible in a standardized fashion.
He is the Chairman of the Indian Council Medical Research (ICMR) committee for
developing guidelines for management of Pancreatic and Gastric Cancer in India. He is
the Past President of the Indian Chapter of International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary
Association (IHPBA). He is the President Elect of the Asia Pacific Hepato-Pancreato-
Biliary Association (A-PHPBA) and Secretary General Elect of the IHPBA. In recognition
of his work on digestive cancer surgery in India, he was conferred Honorary Fellowship
of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2014 (FRCS – Ad Eundem). In 2021, he
was conferred Honorary Fellowship of American Surgical Association (ASA).
