Dr. Vijaya Bhatt is an Associate Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). He serves as Section Leader of the Malignant Hematology Section and Medical Director of the Leukemia Program. His research focus is in acute leukemias and allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation, particularly in older adults. He established a 'Geriatric Leukemia and Transplant Program' at UNMC. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed manuscript. He serves as a national PI or a study co-chair for four multicenter studies funded by industry or the NCI including a R37-funded study. He has had leadership roles in the Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium including serving as a Chair of the Steering Committee. For his accomplishments, he received the Distinguished Scientist Award from UNMC in 2021.
