Sani Kizilbash, MD, MPH
Sani H. Kizilbash is an Associate Professor of Oncology at Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN. He completed his medical school at Aga Khan University (Karachi, Pakistan), his internal medicine residency at William Beaumont Hospital (Royal Oak, MI) and his hematology/oncology fellowship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. He also completed a Masters in Public Health at Emory University. His clinical practice and research endeavors focus on central nervous system malignancies and experimental therapeutics. He has served as a site principal investigator for at least 15 clinical trials. Significant leadership roles in clinical trials include lead PI of an NCI ETCTN phase 1 trial evaluating telaglentastat in IDH-mutant astrocytoma, lead PI of an R01 funded phase 1 trial evaluating WSD0922 in EGFR mutant high-grade astrocytoma and lung cancer, and co-chair of an Alliance phase 2/3 trial evaluating veliparib in glioblastoma. His research is funded by several federal grants (including NCI, NINDS, and the FDA). He is a Full Member of the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. Current roles include co-Chair for the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee, and Emerging Leader for the Neuro-Oncology Research Program. He also recently completed a six-year term as practice chair for the brain tumor practice at his institution. Finally, he currently mentors four junior faculty on clinical trial development, along with several trainees on clinical and translational research projects.
