Clinical Researcher and Oncologist at Muhimbili National Hospital
Dr Sarah Kutika Nyagabona is passionate about improving cancer care and empowering women in the fight against cancer through clinical work, research, and mentorship.
Dr. Nyagabona has worked with bilateral collaborations, utilizing her clinical experience and leadership skills to advance collaborative cancer studies in Tanzania. Specifically, she led the implementation, analysis, and dissemination efforts for a needs assessment which directly informed the design of a D43 training grant that was won for the establishment of a cancer research training program at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) in collaboration with University of California San Franscisco (UCSF). Dr. Nyagabona was also part of the team that established Tanzania National Cancer Treatment Guidelines (TNCTG) and served as a strong co-investigator on a project to evaluate the implementation of TNCTG in her country.
Dr. Nyagabona has also served as a research scholar at the UCSF global cancer program.
Currently, she cares for cancer patients at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), and she is also pursuing a Ph.D. at MUHAS, of which upon completion will make her the first female PhD holding Oncologist in her home country of Tanzania.
