I am an alumnus of Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam and PGIMER, Chandigarh. I did my MD in General Medicine from there between 1982-85.

For the next 2 years, I worked as a registrar in Medical Oncology at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.

I finished my Fellowship in Medical Oncology at Cancer Institute, Madras. I served at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, where I built a comprehensive department, a cancer registry, a fellowship in Medical Oncology and Ph D Program, an early phase cancer clinical trials unit and a Paediatric Oncology facility.

I have had the opportunity to observe and work closely with several stalwarts in my own field – oncology – both within and without the country.

As a part of my career in clinical research, I had the opportunity to travel to nearly 37 countries in the world.

What appeals to me most is the challenge. I successfully built comprehensive cancer departments, basic cancer biology labs, created cancer registries, professional societies, voluntary organisations as well as a full cancer hospital.

I have over 275 publications.
