Allie Grossmann, MD PhD
Dr. Allie Harris Grossmann is a physician scientist with clinical expertise in molecular genetic pathology of solid tumors, and in bone and soft tissue surgical pathology. She serves as one of several medical directors of Solid Tumor Molecular Oncology in the Division of Anatomic Pathology at the University of Utah and ARUP Laboratories. Dr. Grossmann is also an independent investigator at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, with extramural funding from the American Cancer Society, the National Cancer Institute and the Department of Defense (US Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs). Her research laboratory studies mechanisms of melanoma formation, tumor progression, metastasis and immune evasion. Using clinically relevant, in vivo models of melanoma, her laboratory investigates how tumors exploit endomembrane trafficking machinery to facilitate oncogenic signaling, alter the tumor microenvironment and suppress immune attack. As a pathologist, she incorporates translational studies with patient samples to understand how endomembrane trafficking is dysregulated in melanoma and identify novel mechanisms that may be amenable to therapeutic intervention.
