Abbal Koirala, MD
Dr. Koirala is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Koirala hails from Kathmandu, Nepal, and earned his medical degree from King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his internal medicine residency at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL, and subsequently pursued a fellowship in general nephrology at the University of Washington in 2016. In 2019, Dr. Koirala completed a glomerulonephritis fellowship at the same institution.
Dr. Koirala has been a faculty member at the University of Washington since 2020 and is passionate about teaching students, residents, and fellows. Due to his dedication to education, he was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2022. Currently, he serves as the site PI for the Iptacopan trial in IgA Nephropathy and Inaxaplin for APOL1 nephropathy.
